Green Hummingbird Fair Trade Clothing

Welcome to the Virginia Weekender! Our first stop on our tour of the Old Dominion is none other than Harrisonburg. Harrisonburg has a lot to offer its residents and travelers. It is truly a college town, as it is hard to go anywhere without seeing paraphernalia of James Madison University. Nicknamed “The Burg,” there are a lot of shopping opportunities that cater to the lovely residents of the city and JMU students. Harrisonburg has more to offer than what meets the eye.

I recently came across a hidden gem called Green Hummingbird Fair Trade Clothing. This unique boutique is located in the heart of downtown on South Main Street. The location is ideal because it is easily accessible by foot, bike, car, or Harrisonburg City transportation.

This store came to be because boutique owner Eleanor Held found that there was a need for a Fair Trade store that catered to clothing. The benefits of Fair Trace clothing are that the products are unique, high quality craftsmanship, and support developing countries. Every time you make a purchase, you are supporting one thing or another, so why not support artisans who are living in poverty-stricken areas?

The store sells women’s clothes and accessories. All of the products have a Boho theme in common, which is currently on-trend. The styles range from modern to classic and everything in between. The items are moderately priced, with most pieces costing under $50. Although it is not the cheapest place to buy clothes, the pieces are unique and the money goes towards a great cause.

Come check out the Green Hummingbird for their First Anniversary Celebration on Saturday October 3rd. There will be music, goodies, and 10% off the entire store all day Friday and Saturday! You can find more information of their website at http://www.greenhummingbird.net/. Stay stylish!
