If you’re a fan of hiking or the Shenandoah National Park, odds are you’ve heard of Old Rag. Famous for its strenuous rock scramble to the top and amazing views, there’s no wonder why it’s VA’s most popular hike. But, if you don’t feel like seeing crowds of people and occasionally waiting to continue on the trail, how about driving 10 minutes down the road to White Oak Canyon Trail?

White Oak Canyon is one of the most slept on hikes in Shenandoah National Park. Measuring approximately 5 miles in length, this moderately strenuous trail provides the opportunity to see some of the most beautiful waterfalls that VA has to offer. The trail is generally occupied by a fraction of the visitors that Old Rag attracts, which is great if you want to get secluded from society for the afternoon and explore all the beauty of God’s green earth.

White Oak Canyon is maintained by the National Park service, which means well maintained trails to guarantee a great experience. For directions and more information on White Oak Canyon check out the page devoted to this wonderful trail on HikingUpwards.com: http://bit.ly/1RYGnCg
