Great Falls Nat'l Park
Being in Northern Virginia this week is a big plus for me, only because I'm from the area and am familiar with a lot of the attractions. One of my favorite places to go in NoVa ever since I was a little kid has been Great Falls National Park. Not only is the park a beautiful area to walk around, it also has an overlook to the rushing waters of the Potomac River.
Great Falls is located in McLean, Va. and is an incredibly popular attraction for tourists and locals alike. Many don't realize it, but Great Falls is actually only 15 minutes away from D.C., so if you're looking to make a great day trip with more than the nation's capital in mind, this is the place!
I know going to a national park when it's starting to get cold doesn't seem like a great idea, but I beg to differ. I've been to Great Falls in the winter, spring and summer before and I have loved it every time. Great Falls changes based on how in bloom the trees and flowers are or whether the ground is covered in fluffy white snow.
I recommend going to Great Falls either by yourself (in order to better take in the breathtaking surroundings) or with a large group of friends (in order to have a blast exploring). Fill your weekend with curiosity and explore somewhere you've never been by going to Great Falls National Park.
